We have been blessed to cover one of the most beautiful weddings in one of the most beautiful venues in Northern California, Berkeley City Club.
When Peipei told us that their venue will be in the Berkeley City Club and the whole place has a historical impact in the world of architecture (designed by Julia Morgan – best known for her work on Hearst Castle), we are way curious how it looks like. So we decided to check out the link that she gave us to see for ourselves. We saw a lot of arches and details in the windows, the posts and the stairs of the building. But I don’t think the photos gave us enough to prepare us for what we saw in reality! IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! Love love love the old vintage glam of the place with its unbelievable high ceilings dotted with myriad arches detailed with little sculptures. Peipei warned us that the lighting might be lacking but we saw an amazing dramatic backdrop for their wedding photos.
On the outside, it started to trickle down with what seemed like rain when we were just parking. The beautiful old trees that lined the streets reached out across forming a breathtaking canopy of leaves and branches, perfectly fitting for the building that it houses by its side. AHHHHHHHHHH… The day is just gorgeous. We came early to check out the whole place and there are a thousand places that we could take photos in. These are those moments when we really really wish that we had more time to take photos. But we know it’s still a wedding and it’s a PARTY! So we try to squeeze in as much as we could in the time that we’re given. Crystal Myers, the sales and catering manager of Berkeley City Club, is very much on top of her game, reminding us how many more minutes we have left and it really helped us to be more aware of the time. Mr. and Mrs. Pollman are very much in demand, their guests are clamoring for them!
Now for the photos!
The rings. Notice how beautiful the hearts are on the side of Peipei’s wedding ring.

Shoes make me sigh. I think women at the tender young age of 2, long before we could distinguish a Jimmy choo from a Manolo Blahnik, already are in love with them. Check out Peipei’s heels and if I remember right, she’s so in love with this pair that she has 2 of them! Is that right? Or is it 3?

Here are some shots while Peipei was prepping up for the big moment! With the usual hustle and bustle of the bridal party prepping up.

Love her sephora eye kit

With her mom as they head downstairs

Eric, our dashing groom, as he awaits Peipei downstairs.

And of course, Peipei, what a beautiful glowing bride …

Eric and Peipei decided to their first sight, away from the crowd and the applause of their well meaning friends and family. This is when the groom and the bride secretly meet together before their ceremony and are able to express their feelings right before their wedding. It’s a single private moment that we think is very beautiful. It’s a moment when they face each other, seeing how beautiful each one is and being able to say so. They meet knowing that that is the last time that they will be separate entities before their union as husband and wife.
Here’s a photo of such a beautiful moment. Eric with a smile of anticipation and Peipei’s hand as she reaches out to him.

And then it is on!!!

A touching exchange of the vows…

Yes Eric, you may kiss the bride.

After the ceremony, we got a few more moments before the whole crowd clamored for Mr. and Mrs. Pollman!
The entourage. A fun bunch.

Love this one of Peipei drinking her whiskey (yes, with her lovely toned arms!) and Eric just having fun looking at his lovely bride.

And of course, what makes a wedding the most photographed event of all time? It’s the love that clearly shines forth between 2 unique individuals. Here are some of their sweet moments together …

A lovely silhouette shot of them two.

Eric and Peipei, thank you for having us. We would have stayed a lot longer but the flu that we came down with like 2 weeks ago just drained us of all our strength! But we are really glad that we made it to your wedding. We pray blessings be heaped upon your marriage guys =)
